Alive and Kicking was started in Skegness in 1999 by Tina and Barry Mellors because as foster carers of people with learning disabilities, they realised there was nothing for them to do in the area to meet other people, make friends and have fun.

They began with just 11 members, but now 40 regular members meet twice a week for social events. The youngest member is 20 and the eldest is 63.

The group meets twice a week and has an exciting six-month programme of events booked, including trips to restaurants, cinema nights, ten-pin bowling and much more.

Barry and Tina also organise five holidays a year at home and abroad and members take part in a number of sporting events for people with disabilities throughout the county.
